Our lasting impact on the community
Discover the meaningful changes and lasting differences we've made in the lives of individuals and families across Auckland. Our journey is built on lived experience and strong community connections.

Meaningful change in our communities
Since its establishment, Wellbeing Charitable Trust has helped create meaningful change by responding to emerging community needs and working alongside people to develop practical, culturally responsive solutions. Some of our key achievements include:
Supporting hundreds of migrant families: What began as a small Mandarin-speaking parenting group for just a few families grew into a trusted community network supporting hundreds of parents across Auckland. By providing culturally relevant parenting education, families gained knowledge, confidence, and peer support during one of the most challenging stages of life.

Raising awareness and fostering safety
Bringing family violence into community conversations: The Trust helped raise awareness of family violence within migrant communities at a time when many people did not recognise controlling behaviours, financial abuse, or social isolation as forms of abuse. Through education, advocacy, and trusted relationships, more individuals and families were able to seek help and access support.

Stories of real transformation
Behind every programme is a person, a family, and a story. These examples reflect the kinds of changes made possible through the work of Wellbeing Charitable Trust.
A mother's journey from fear to confidence: A new migrant mother joined one of our parenting programmes while experiencing family violence, isolation, and self-doubt. Through the support of other parents, culturally appropriate guidance, and practical encouragement, she rebuilt her confidence, returned to study, completed her master's degree, and created a safe future for herself and her daughter. What began as a parenting workshop became the foundation for a new chapter in her life.
"Changing generations through parenting."
One grandfather attended a parenting workshop convinced that modern parenting approaches were wrong. After listening, learning, and trying new ways of responding to his grandson, he discovered that respectful communication strengthened rather than weakened family relationships. He later shared these insights, influencing his wider family.

Projects we're most proud of
Every project at Wellbeing Charitable Trust began by listening to communities. Rather than creating programmes for the sake of delivering services, we respond to needs identified by the people we work alongside. Some of the initiatives we are most proud of include:
Chinese parenting and family wellbeing programme: This was one of the Trust's earliest initiatives and remains one of its most significant. At a time when there were very few culturally appropriate parenting resources available in Mandarin, the programme created a safe and welcoming space where migrant parents could learn, share experiences, and support one another. More than parenting education, it helped reduce isolation, build confidence, and foster lasting community connections. It also became the foundation for many of the Trust's later initiatives.

Addressing critical community needs
Family violence awareness and prevention: As relationships grew with families, it became clear that many people were experiencing family violence. The Trust proactively addressed this sensitive issue by developing programmes and resources that raised awareness, provided support, and encouraged safe disclosure. This initiative has been crucial in breaking the cycle of violence and empowering individuals to seek help.
Celebrating 10 Years of Community Impact
In 2024, Wellbeing Charitable Trust celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of working alongside communities at the grassroots level to improve wellbeing, strengthen families and build connected, resilient communities. Over the past ten years, the Trust has grown through strong partnerships with government agencies, community organisations and local leaders, responding to the evolving needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities across Auckland.
Looking ahead, our aspiration is to invest in the next generation of community leaders by strengthening youth leadership and community resilience. We believe sustainable change happens when communities are empowered to lead their own solutions. Our vision is that by our 20th anniversary, many of the young people we have supported and mentored will be leading the organisation and serving their own communities, while those who helped establish the Trust continue to support and guide from the background.
To achieve this, we work to address barriers to wellbeing including social isolation, language and cultural barriers, limited access to services, mental health stigma, family stress, and inequitable opportunities for participation. Through culturally responsive programmes, leadership development, mentoring, education and community partnerships, we aim to create stronger, more connected and resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
